Indigo children are you one ?
There are theories that there is a group of children with special abilities called Indigo Children. Concept based on the Nancy Ann Tappe book believes that children are born with a biological connection to their own spirituality. It is said that they are born after 1995, but some consider that starting point could be even 1980's. They have affinity to rocks and stones. The indigo children are known to have higher sensitivity hence are highly allergic to foreign substances. These children may have intuitive abilities, psychic or telepathic traits. These children have heightened emotions. They are usually loners and strong willed. Most of such children are known to be right brain dominated. Most indigo children are creative. These children have a strong spiritual inclination. The indigo child has superior healing capabilities. Most of these children have amazing sense of balance.

In 1926, women were banned from competing in marathons because it was believed it caused infertility. After the Violet Percy from Great Britain who ran first official marathon, 800m was the maximum distance a woman could "safely" run. It wasn't until 1963 the next official time was recorded for a woman. Interesting fact is that Violet Percy is not the first women to run the marathon. Three years before her, Frances Hayward in 1923 finished Comrades marathon in 11 hours and 35 minutes (unofficially since women were not allowed to run this marathon).
Oldest woman ever
Jeanne Louise Calment of Arles, France was the world's longest living person. Jeanne was born on February 21, 1875 and died on August 4, 1997. Her height was 4’11” (1.50m). Jeanne died at the age of 122 in a nursing home in Arles. She lived 122 years and 164 days (44,724 days total). Jeanne’s name appears in the Guinness Book of World Records. At age 121, she released her two CDs, one in French and another in English titled, Maitresse du Temps (Time’s Mistress). During the end stage, she became blind, she could not hear properly and was confined to a wheelchair but was in high spirits and mentally alert. Interesting fact is that Jeanne smoked cigarettes until the age of 117

Star Sign
Characteristics:
A Virgo likes routine, which enables them to be practical and industrious workers. They are also very good at absorbing information. On a personal level, Virgo’s are at their happiest when looking out for other people.
Virgo’s can also be mistaken for introverts, as they are very shy and modest, partly due to an awareness of their own short-comings. Although modesty is a known aphrodisiac, few Virgo’s will react to any love interest without some self doubt.
The negative side to their character can also find them too conservative, and weighed down by the details of a project
TAURUS
Characteristics:
Security is very important for a Taurus, in every sense of the word! Security in an emotional and physical sense will enable all aspects of their lives to prosper.
Those born under Taurus enjoy creature comforts and the finer things in life, so are often accused of being materialistic. Like their symbol the Bull, they can also be hot-headed and stubborn. On the positive side they are reliable and ambitious to a certain extent, and also make generous friends
SCORPIO
Characteristics:
Unfortunately, Scorpios have a bad reputation and are often talked about for their jealous, vengeful streaks. Whilst outwardly calm, they tend to have infinite stores of emotional energy that can easily erupt, or lead to obsession over something.
On a positive note, this energy and zest can lead to a determined and forceful approach to life, which will bring results. Scorpios are also known for their sexual magnetism, and compatibility in a physical relationship is highly important to those born under this sign.
SAGITTARIUS
Characteristics:
Sagittarius have a great sense of fun and optimism, and enjoy being with people who share this philosophy in life. Freedom is also very important to this star sign, and friends or partners should avoid putting a Sagittarius in a claustrophobic situation.
Although generally an open-minded and trusting sign, there can also be issues with their frank and at times tactless way of expressing themselves. When bored, a Sagittarius' reckless attitude comes to the fore as well

The truth about cordycep ( Brainwash By Fungi )
Imagine an insect that is brainwashed by parasitic fungi (genus Cordyceps). This interesting fungi manipulates insect's brain forcing him to climb the plant or tree, and upon reaching to the top grows out of his head or body! Cordyceps also called Chinese caterpillar fungus, native to the Tibetan plateau in China. In human beings, it enters through the ears, germinates in the mind, causes the host to destroy rival communities, and exits via the mouth, and infects others. A Korean study of a related species of Cordyceps indicates that it has components that may inhibit coagulation, making it potentially beneficial in stroke and heart attack prevention. A hot water extract of the fungus appeared to stimulate the immune system. In other studies, which have reported that Cordyceps may be useful in treating Hepatitis B. A study from Thailand reported that Cordyceps nipponica might be of value in the treating malaria. Another review concluded that Cordyceps might be promising as a possible support for heart & lung function. Interesting fact is that Chinese Olympic athletes use this fungi to improve their performance and stamina.

Modified Mosquitoes May Be Anti-Malaria Allies
The enemy of our enemy may be our new partner in stopping a global health crisis.
With World Malaria Day (April 25) around the corner, new discoveries suggest our greatest allies in the fight against malaria may be the mosquitoes themselves.
Although saddled with a lousy public image, mosquitoes have immune systems that actually kill 80 to 90 percent of the malaria parasites that enter the insect's bodies, a new study says.
The discovery is part of an international effort to create a new generation of malaria treatments.
Genetically modified, malaria-fighting mosquitoes or even antibodies injected into humans and "fed" back to mosquitoes could someday be more effective at slowing the disease than today's simple mosquito nets, researchers say.
(Related: "Twitter-Celeb Mosquito Nets: What Good Will They Do?")
Triple Threat to Malaria
Malaria-parasite populations are lower when the parasites are inside mosquitoes, so some experts think it may be more effective to attack malaria inside the insects—before it enters human hosts.
Understanding how the mosquito immune system fends off malaria is an important part of bringing such a plan to fruition.
Now researchers say they've worked out the mechanism that drives one of the mosquitoes' defenses.
Three proteins in mosquito blood form a complex that "binds to a malaria parasite and punches holes through its membrane," destroying the layer that protects the parasite and holds all its important parts together, said Imperial College London biologist George Christophides, who co-authored the report, published in the April 10 issue of the journal Science.
Previously researchers had identified the three proteins and noticed that one of them seemed similar to microbe-killing proteins in other animals and in humans
How It Might Work
A mosquito-up approach to malaria control is feasible in the long term, researchers say. There are a couple of ways it could work.
In one scenario, scientists could create genetically modified mosquitoes, granting their immune systems pumped-up malaria-killing abilities.
The key would be to find a genetic drive mechanism—some factor that would give the new, malaria-fighting genes a selective advantage and help them spread quickly through wild mosquito populations via breeding, said Gregory Lanzaro, director of the Vector Genetics Lab at the University of California, Davis.
No one has figured this out for mosquitoes yet. But the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is already testing a similar concept in blood-sucking assassin bugs as a way to stop the spread of deadly, difficult-to-cure Chagas disease, Lanzaro said.
The other option would be to develop antibodies that can fight the parasites' early, mosquito-dwelling forms—and "feed" the antibodies to the insects via human blood.
Mosquito immune systems don't produce antibodies on their own. And by the time the parasites reach humans, they have matured and found ways to hide out from human antibodies, said Marcelo Jacobs-Lorena, professor of molecular microbiology and immunology at the Johns Hopkins Malaria Research Institute in Baltimore.
But if we vaccinate humans with antibodies that target mosquito-stage malaria, those antibodies could be passed on to the mosquitoes when they feed on treated human blood, Jacobs-Lorena said.
Combined with a second, protective vaccine, this could be a real possibility, he said.
"There's a partially effective vaccine that protects humans that's being tested," Jacobs-Lorena said. "Neither it, nor the transmission-blocking vaccine would be 100 percent effective, but the combination may work."
Liposuction Fat Turned Into Stem Cells
Using leftovers from liposuction patients, scientists have turned human fat into stem cells, a new study says.
The new method is much more efficient than a previous practice that used skin cells, researchers say.
The discovery may also help avoid the controversy spawned by the use of stem cells from human embryos. (See stem cell research pictures.)
Human fat is "an abundant natural resource and a renewable one," said Stanford University plastic surgeon Michael Longaker, whose liposuction patients donated the fat for the study.
Longaker envisions a future in which doctors will be able to use fat from a patient to grow, in a lab, new tissues and organs for that patient.
The opportunity wouldn't be limited to the obese.
"Even if you're in great shape, there is still enough fat to be harvested from the vast majority of patients," added Longaker, who co-authored the study.
From Fat to Stem Cells to New Organs?
The reprogrammed cells, called induced pluripotent stem cells, or iPS cells, are capable of turning into most types of cells in the body.
Scientists are keen to obtain these cells to study disease and, one day, use them to grow new tissue and replacement organs.
Previously, researchers had shown that they could derive this type of stem cell from ordinary skin cells.
But the fat technique is about twice as fast and 20 times more efficient, said Joseph Wu, the study's senior author. ite interesting"We can get iPS-like colonies, basically, in about 16 days, compared to 28 days to 32 days using [skin]," said Wu, a Stanford stem cell expert. "And if you count the number of colonies in [skin] versus fat ... we get about 20 times more the number of iPS colonies."
The research appears online today in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Reprogramming Cells
To create the stem cells, the scientists injected Trojan horse-like viruses into smooth muscle cells found in fat that surrounds blood vessels. Once inside, the viruses introduced genes that reprogrammed the cells, spurring them to grow into new forms.
Previously, this process had required growing the stem cells in a culture dish with nutrients from mouse cells. This had raised alarms about the potential for contamination from mouse proteins—a potential obstacle to government approval, Longaker, the plastic surgeon, said.
That the new method works at all is "somewhat surprising" and remains something of a mystery, Longaker said.
Sidestepping Stem Cell Controversy
The fat and skin methods allow researchers to sidestep the ethical controversy over the use of embryonic stem cells from cell lines originally harvested from unused human embryos from in vitro fertilization clinics.
In addition, Longaker noted, tissue or organs grown from a patient's own stem cells should be less likely to be rejected by the body.
The speediness of the fat method, in particular, could be lifesaving, he added.
For example, if a surgeon wanted to implant new heart tissue—derived from a heart attack victim's own fat—into a patient, the doctor might have only a short time before scar tissue would compromise the operation.
If he or she were able to generate the tissue within a few weeks, Longaker said, that "would be a big deal."
